Coffins are tapered at the head and foot but wider at the shoulders. A coffin is always constructed with a full-length lid, which lifts off completely. A simple, contemporary lid design may have a flat finish, while some of the finest lids have single, double or triple raised tiers. Coffins are available in solid wood, timber veneered and custom wood/particle board.
